What is Live-in Pet Sitting?

The Benefits of Live-in Pet Sitting

  • Reduced Stress: Pets thrive in their familiar environment. Live-in pet sitting minimises the stress and anxiety that can come with staying in unfamiliar places.

  • Personalised Attention: This option gives your pets dedicated one-on-one time, allowing them to reign as the true king or queen of the castle that they are and bask in all the love and attention they deserve all day long.

  • Regular Updates: Every visit includes start/end notifications plus a detailed report with picture and video updates, assuring you that your pets are well and happy.

  • Reduced Exposure to Illness: Keeping your pet at home helps maintain their overall health and significantly reduces their risk of illness.

  • Added Security: Having a sitter stay at your home provides an extra layer of security, deterring potential break-ins and ensuring everything is in order.

Preparing your home for pet sitting

Preparing your home for a pet sitter is crucial to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience for both your pet and the sitter. When you hire us, you'll be asked to fill out a detailed pet profile in our app. However, even if you go with another pet sitter, this checklist will still be incredibly useful.

Here are some of the steps to help you prepare:

  • Organise Pet Supplies:

Enough food, treats, medications and toys

  • Set Up a Comfortable Sleeping Area:

If your pets are used to sleeping in bed with you, please let us know—we honestly love it when that's allowed, but we will respect your preferences if not. Maintaining your pet's habits and comfort is our top priority!

  • Leave Detailed Instructions:

Feeding times and exact portion size, dietary restrictions, special feeding instructions, daily routine, walking times and distance, playtime, potty breaks, emergency contacts, vet information, etc. Don't hole back! The more detailed, the better.

  • Pet Safety and Security:

Remove any hazardous items, ensure that fences and gates are secure, make sure the temperature of the house is comfortable for your pet.

  • Household Essentials:

Provide cleaning supplies for any accidents. This includes paper towels, pet-safe cleaners, and extra litter for cats.

  • Communicate Expectations:

Inform the sitter about any expected visitors or maintenance workers during your absence, show how to use your home security system if you have one, provide keys or access codes as necessary and outline any house rules, such as areas that are off-limits to pets or the sitter.

  • Additional Services:

If you have plants that need watering, provide instructions and a schedule, let the sitter know if they should collect mail and packages, and inform the sitter of your trash and recycling schedule.

  • Walkthrough:

Give the sitter a tour of your home, pointing out important areas like the kitchen, pet’s sleeping area, and outdoor access points. This can be done during the Meet & Greet or you can send us a video.

By thoroughly preparing your home, you can ensure that your pet receives the best possible care and that the sitter has everything they need to keep your pet happy and healthy. This preparation not only helps in maintaining your pet’s routine but also gives you peace of mind while you’re away.

"Such a good job with our anxious but adorable doggie. Thank you Andrea!
Could see the happiness build over the daily updates when we were away. And peace of mind helped us to have the best trip.
We finally found the carer we have been looking for
